Pre-race routine:

LOL, with 2 races, I guess I can just repeat the pre-race routine from the half.

Between the two, cough started to get a bit worse, but again thougth it was just allergies. We tried to do pretty much nothing between the races, went to the pool for a bit.
Event warmup:

3:00 wakeup call, at least Sunday we new the routine a bit better so knew that we didn't need to be at the race site quite as early. Took more time to eat and get ready for the race ahead.
Run
  • 5h 06m 15s
  • 26.2 miles
  • 11m 41s  min/mile
Comments:

Our going in plan was to walk the first bit of each mile then run our regular pace for about 10:30ish pace. Due to my knee we ended up throwing that plan out the window. We decided to run 5 miles and see how it went.

It was a bit colder so I never even took off a bit of clothing that I started the race with.

It was pretty amazing running through the theme parks. Between the parks is dull florida swamp type land, nothing much to see. When you made it through the parks it ended up making time fly by. After we knew it we were still running at 10 miles with no walk breaks.

Crowd support here was amazing, especially through the parks, there were people lining the way all through the parks, especially Magic Kingdom.

It's a very different kind of race, there were Disney characters about every mile or so and people lining up for pictures. Most had an official photographer + a park worker who would take your camera for your picture also. We stopped for a picture in front of Cinderella's castle.

All and all it is a blast to run this race, probably not someplace you would go for a PR but definitely for a good time.
What would you do differently?:

Not get hurt, not get sick.
Post race
Warm down:

hobbled to the bus, legs were pretty much toast.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Sick, hurt, etc

Event comments:

Pretty awesome race. The rest of our trip turned out to not be quite so good. My cough turned out the be the flu which Sam, both kids, brother and girlfriend both got.

Super effort and very proud to have run with you on both days.  I had a great time and glad that your knee held up.  Just don't pass the flu along to the rest of next time.  ;-)

Sounds like so much fun!  (other than your flu!).  Congrats on the terrific achievement and being able to share it with Sam the whole way!
