(I am assuming that you, like a reasonable and responsible pet parent, would have been checking on tags/chips, vet and humane societies already - also though given many places were closed for the holiday yesterday you might have been holding off on doing that).

no chip, none of the vets have had any calls and the animal protection league has no calls.  And by the way yes craigs list and a Google search I posted on craigs list and did a google search for lost beagles in the towns near where I found them.

Yay!  I thank you, and my dog thanks you, and all the dogs in the world thank you.  You have been a responsible, caring animal person.  Now we can get back to business....we want puppy pictures!!!
