6'3" (191cm) male with a 35" inseam and normal torso/leg proportions with $2K to burn on a carbon tri bike.

I need some opinions as I am torn and can not decide on what to purchase. I have read, and watched nearly every review of these bikes that I found and they seem about even.

I just want some "real people" perspective on what y'all think about these bikes so vote and post some opinions and give me some feedback from the masses.

I love my Felt B16.  I bought an 09 model at the beginning of 10 and got her for $1500.  Gives you a little extra money for accessories/necessities.  I am not as tall as you, 6'00 34" inseam and the 58 fits me perfectly.

I'm excited to see what people think here...I'm 189cm and about 2K to spend.  Is a cervelo P2 not an option for you?

Out of your choices I'd probably try to find the deal on the B-16.

But not one of your choices I'd maybe go with this.

http://www.bikesdirect.com/products/kestrel/oz_talon_tri.htm

Just under $1700

I have a 10' Talon 105 and I love it. This has better components than mine and better wheels. The Kestrel's seem to be lighter than other entry carbon bikes as well. I weighed mine in at 18.9 pounds. I know weight isn't much on a TT bike, but it still come into play, just not as much on a TT bike as say a road bike. But anytime you can save a couple pounds its good, of course in my case I could just eat a few less donuts and get the same benefit.

Another choice and I don't know if its still availble, but not too long ago I saw QR CD01 I think it was for somewhere around 2k, but they are prob all gone now.

Having spent the past few weeks shopping and riding tri bikes... the various manufacturers present different geometries... and the one bike I really wanted... did not fit as well or ride as nice... don't pick the bike based on look or price... get a fit done then ride some... then decide... Laughing

I bought a end of the year  B16 Felt 2010  58 cm a few months ago.

I am about 6'2" inseam is about the same as yours (exact number dont remember), this bike fits me well and I feel great on it, however it is my first tri bike.

This ^^^.  Get fitted and then decide which of these has the best geometry for you.  I'm surprised that this hasn't been mentioned more in this thread.

While I subscribe to the "Get fit then shop" school of thought, I ended up doing it backwards as I was given an awesome new tri bike for Christmas, and then went for a fitting. I ended up having to get a bigger size, but the fitter told me the bike was the right choice for me. It fits like a glove when I'm on it, so I can't disagree.

To all of the fit first buy a bike that supports fit people: I would love to have that option but
excuse a) I'm a broke grad student living on assistant salary and this money is the work of lots of hustling on my part so paying the 100-200 on a fit really hurts. After I grad and have some cash flow I promise all of you I will get a proper fit and buy that special tri bike just for me.
excuse b) I live in BFE, its drive 2 hours to felt shop, 2 hours other direction to Specialized shop, or order online without a precision fit (Gasp!)

To everyone else thank you for your opinions and following directions! It looks like a trip the Felt shop to do some negotiating.

Have you done any self fitting measurements?  A great option is the fit calculator at

http://www.competitivecyclist.com/za/CCY?PAGE=FIT_CALCULATOR_INTRO

This will give you a range of bikes that fit you based on their geometry.  I am tall, 6'5" with long legs, 36" inseam, and am better off on a tall bike such as a Cervelo as opposed to a long bike such as a Felt.

So, get a $200 fit done and by a used (Gasp!) bike for $1800 (which, BTW, will buy you much "more" bike than a $2k new one).

Sorry for not following directions.  I have this streak in me that preferes to try to give good advice, even when not wanted.  Gets me in trouble sometimes...
