It's very cold sometimes...

Recently it was so cold when I ran that my chin got numb. I wore a t-shirt with collar, but didn't work. Also I wore a cap, I was sweating due to the fact that it was a long(er) run, but my chin almost froze...cold.

What do you people wear to prevent this?

My advice is a mask.  Something like this http://www.workinggear.com/gc/catalog/PolarMAX-Unisex-XG-Crossover-...

In the shoulder months (Nov, Dec, Mar, Apr) here, I wear a buff that I can pull up over my chin. In the really cold months, I wear a smartwool neck gaiter - you can pull it up as far as you are comfortable (I need to keep it below my mouth because I don't like the ice that forms on the cloth from my breath), or down as you get warmer.

Good luck!

I ski all winter and when I run I use my ski gater. Turtle fur makes a great one.

Turtle Fur.  It's fleecy and oh so nice.

I wear a Saucony DryLete neck gaitor. I get way too hot in a fleece neck gaitor or baclava.

I use a ski mask like this since my nose also gets very cold - old frost bite left overs.  Since it's Velcro in the back, I can remove it and hold it or wrap it on may arm when I get too warm and reattach when the wind kicks up.

I use a smartwool balcalva for real cold runs or rides. The wool works great even when damp from sweating.

Here is the type I use.

UA Coldgear Mask.

I'll still wear a hat on top for really cold days, but this does wonders from the eyes down.
