Subject: Fatty wants a Tri

Hey All,
Nice to meet you!
I have exercised for years but I am still FAT!! I had a contest with some folks a year ago where the dude who lost the most weight was winning a nice chunk of cash. That was me!!! I started running more seriously and got hooked. Did my first 5K in March, kept moving up to 10 and 15K and my training peers told me I had the heart and somewhat fitness background. I was convinced to do a marathon, and I ended up in Philly running for 26.2 miles. It was brutal but I finished!Laughing

My training partners have done IM and HIM.  I have done some cycling but not enough for a competition. I just got a membership to the Y and I can finally learn how to swim to leave the doggie style for my 3 year old daughter.  I want to  do my first Sprint Triathlon in August and it seems is enough time to train.

Any thoughts??

Welcome! This is my second year and I'm finding that the accountability over at the Tri'ing for Weightloss forum is incredibly helpful & that as I drop the lbs my knees hurt less on runs, which has been a good motivator for me to keep it up. Good luck with your first year!

Congratulations on your accomplishments.  A full marathon is something to be proud of.

I think the membership to the Y is a great idea.  Swimming can be tough, so lessons can help you get the most out of your stroke.

Enjoy the ride.  I wish you the best.
