Comments:

Kept a steady pace with a running partner through the course. We held back the first mile so not to get caught up in the excitement, but managed to stay comfortable. After the first big hill, we started bombing the downhills up to mile 4 to get our "free time" as we could.

After mile 4, we were on a multi use trail and just held our own paces. Nothing bad at all. Mile 6, I started fading and took a gel at mile 7. From there it was cruise in mode. My training partner felt great and he took off, I just worked to keep him in sight.

On the mile 9 hill (Hollywood) I ran it. Most walked it due to the steepness, but we'd run it numerous times so weren't worried. Ran it and kept trucking.

The last hill up Firefighter lane took it out of me, but it was downhill coasting to the finish. I outkicked a guy with 100yrd to go and felt good.

Finished :31sec over my goal.

Good thing is I improved 9mins from the year previous and improved from #17/22 to #10/31.
What would you do differently?:

Run more of course. Work on pre race nutrition too.
Post race
Warm down:

It was cold. I walked around catching my breath, grabbed some water, and went indoors to not freeze.

Then wondered back out and made my way to the IHOP for a post run meal. :)

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Out of gas and fatigued at mile 7 which was fairly unusual.

Event comments:

I really like the new venue as opposed to being downtown.
