My Time Ironman watch is probably on its last legs - not the electronics, but the watch band, which is cracking and about to break. 3.5 years of use, day in day out.

How long did yours last?

Mine last forever - a new watch band will do the trick!  My son wears one of mine that I wore in lot of races with me, the watch is about 10 years old and the kid is 11 and I couldn't be more proud.

My Polar band lasted about a year, full time. I just carry around the electronic part now and try to figure out how to stitch/glue/staple what remains to a real watch band.

I had he Timex sleek 50 lap, but the face plate feel off after about a year. Did this happen to anyone else?
Now Ive got the Timex sleek 50 lap without the face plate... But the screen gets scratched up easily.

Mine was still going strong after about four years. Then I took it in and got the battery replaced. Apparently the jeweler didn't seal the back properly so it didn't last one lap after I got it back.

About four years here as well. Battery and the band were replaced two years ago. I love it for it's simplicity and reliability. I could wear it forever.

I'm on about my fourth. I had one turn into an aquarium after trying to have the battery replaced. Now I send it in to Timex. I've had the same issues with the bands, and the style I have I can't replace so you have to mail it to them. But these are great watches for me - I love the CDR timer for intervals, the 3 alarms to manage my life, and the numbers are big enough for me! I think I've got one that's been about 4 years, a pink one I won that is on about year 3

Watchbands can be changed, you know? Even if it's the kind you can't change yourself, you can send it to Timex with $10 and a few weeks later they'll send you a new watch.

I have one that is going on 17years. It got it right after they came out with indiglo. I've had problems with the watch band not lasting long, but those can be replaced. I have upgraded to a heart rate monitor one thogh.

I hear they last longer if you lick them.

I've had mine for about 6 years now and it's fine.  The paint is chipped off in a few places, but the watch works just fine and I don't plan to replace it until it dies.  Seems to be about every 10 years for me.

I don't remember how long I've had mine. I know I've replaced the band 4-5 times and each band seems to last about 2 years or so. Replacement bands can be bought at Walmart for about $10 or less. Replacement batteries can also be bought at Walmart. I've always done the replacements myself, but I think they'll do it right at Walmart for free if you're not able to do it yourself.

4 years. The battery died and I just bought another one instead of trying to replace it.

I've done this also.   Mine will last 2-3 years depending on how hard I am on them.  In the pool, sweat from running, etc.

usually I lose them about 3-4 months after I get the new band, not sure why but I"m pretty consistent with that

I just buy new ones when they go on sale. Usually for less than 20 bucks. I have three 50 lap watches unopened right now, brand new, never even been turned on.(take out the battery) These things to me are so cheap to buy that they are just disposable. The ones I have now I bought for less than $15 at walmart. Regular price was $45.

Most of m?ine is still working after 2 years but the lap button double-taps ?a? ?l?o?t? ???so I can't use it for swimming anymore.  i.e. it will click off 2 laps sometimes when I hit the lap button.

I usually get a new one when the battery dies.  When the battery gets replaced, it no longer works in water and that's primarily why I use them.  I love 'em, though.  Simple and to the point!

That's a problem with not making sure the gasket is in the correct position after the battery change.  You sometimes also have to lubricate the gasket because it can get dried out over time and not make a good seal.

I have a tube of teflon lubricant called Magiclube.  Works great for watch o-rings, as well as pool and spa equipment.

I've had mine since 1998, its just the basic 8 lap memory watch. You can barely read the stuff on it anymore. I've been through about 4 bands and countless batteries, seems I usually kill the battery once a year by leaving it in my car when its 3 degrees out.

I get about 2-4 years out of them.  Typically one only lasts about two batteries before enough other parts start to die that it's worth replacing them.

I had no idea you can change the band on that watch! Mine has no visible band screws, and it looks like you'll also need an non-generic Timex band, but if I have to send it to them to do it, I'll do it!
