Event warmup:

Warmup? It was FREEZING!! Mostly we just made fun of all the freaky costumes (Capt. America!).

Comments:

I'm so glad my first marathon is over. It may just be the only. So hard! Good lord. My friends took bets on how quick the "F" word would come out of my mouth when I finished. It was within seconds I'm sure. That and "Why would anyone ever do this twice?". Unfortunately, I "get" to do it again before my first Ironman in June lol after that...we'll see lol
What would you do differently?:

Hmmmm....not sure, this was my first, and I thought I handled it pretty well. I would have liked to have been a little faster, but I'm happy with the time. Maybe I should take the first half a little slower to conserve energy, (I PR'd the first half lol and then was 20 minutes slower on the 2nd!).
Post race
Warm down:

Sit on my ass and drink a free beer with my shoes off! OMG my feet were killin' me! Did a bit of stretching too.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

My achy feet and knees. Ironman training limited the amount of running I should have done for a marathon. I got the long runs in, but very few runs during the week. I think more are necessary for better performance.

Event comments:

The course was awesome - nice and flat. Although, sometimes the up and downhills can give your legs a much needed break. I can't believe I just said I wished for some hills lol The costumes were very entertaining, the course scenery was awesome. This was a great way to get a tour of New Orleans! The volunteers were good and very upbeat. Fabulous race actually! Even if it was a hell of a long ways!

good job. A 20 min difference is not so bad in a first marathon.

pacing is a real b!tch. Takes a while to get it down.

Lol well I'm not sure I'll ever do another, so pacing won't be an issue lol

Part of my issue was that I'm ironman training right now too, so really couldn't get as much running in as I probably should have. *IF* I ever do another marathon, it will be all I'm training for at that time.
