What makes Ironman Texas 70.3 special?

Elite  3140    |  Subject: What makes Ironman Texas 70.3 special?I was looking once again at my Ironman supplement issue we got with Triathlete magazine that outlines all the races. I noticed that the Ironman Texas 70.3 was the only Him that had qualifying spots for Kona. So it made me think why would the Ironman Corp. use a 70.3 for a qualifier for a full IM? And If so why is that the only 70.3 in the entire lineup of HIM races that have qualifying spots?Don't get me wrong I am all for as many chances , especially for AG's to qualify for Kona . it just did not make sense unless the magazine is wrong. St Croix and Eagleman are two off the top of my head. Buffalo Springs too. They're left overs from older contracts that have not yet expired. Lots more 70.3s used to have spots, but they were "lost" when it was time to re-negotiate contracts with WTC. |
