Pre-race routine:

Goal times I had set were 9:45s for first 2 mi, 18 mph then keep the 2nd 2 mi under 10s.
Stayed at a hotel by the track. It worked out great having the family stay there.

I had petitioned the TMS to bike on the actual track but they said with the banks at such high angles the G's I would pull through the curves could cause issues.
Event warmup:

Stretched and ran some. Didnt want to make too many people gasp as I stretched the hammys.
Run
  • 18m 13s
  • 2 miles
  • 09m 07s  min/mile
Comments:

My goal was to hang around 9:45/m. This run felt pretty good for me. Laps were pretty even on time so I held the pace good.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing, went better than planned.

Comments:

Goal was 18. Nasty wind today. This was the first outside ride of the year. All rides so far have been on the trainer. Felt good.
What would you do differently?:

Not much, went well and just the first outside ride of the year cant complain.
Transition 2
  • 00m 56s
Comments:

Could have went a little faster but happy with this.
Run
  • 19m 33s
  • 2 miles
  • 09m 47s  min/mile
Comments:

Plan was to keep it below 10/m pace. Legs were heavy to start loosened up a little. Will need some work on running of the bike this year.
Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster:

Slacker off season. Basically a C race just to get started. Had fun.

Event comments:

Felt real good about this race. This was the first race where nothing went wrong. No lost bike shoe, stayed on course, not stopped for traffic for 5 min, get wrecked into on the bike. It was a great way to start the season off with a good race. Very excited about the rest of the year. Still need to trim up a little as I am still a little loose in the cage.

Honestly I am a little disappointed.  I was really hoping for some wild and crazy story.  Ha.   Good first race dude, way to start it off right.
