Comments:

12-yr-old Matthew ended up 7th in 19-under Age Group, but Kerrin took a trophy for 3rd 19-under female. Kerrin breezed in with a 1:49:02.
I guess they are both ready for the Quincy Half Marathon - but am I?
What would you do differently?:

Bring extra drink to hydrate. Gotta be more aware of fluids.
Post race
Warm down:

Stretch with Marathon Sports.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Dehydration.

Event comments:

Only provided small amount of water at each of three water stops. While weather was cold, dressing warm to stay warm meant more sweating than expected; thus more serious dehydration.

Performance: Below average
Started off nicely, keeping just over 9 m/m pace for first few miles. Didn't take any water at the first water stop (and that led to troubles). Was at 46 minutes at mile 5, took a little water, but then around mile 6 did not feel so good. Hindsight - should have had more fluids. Pushed on as best as I could, covering final 5 miles in 51 minutes. About mile 8, son Matthew tapped me on the shoulder - what a shock. Could not catch up, and he ended up beating me by just over a minute. Tough getting old!
Course: Seemed a little more up/down than before, but I know it is the same course. Perhaps just the cold weather bothering me more, and thus feeling like tougher hills.
