I agree Steve. Personally I am going to continue training for the Sprint distances, so my vote is faster. Now that I have an event under my belt, I really know how much more training I need to do.

Sounds like everyone did well, great job. I felt great afterwards. The bike portion sucked for me, new bike (borrowed) and I really could have trained better for that leg.  Yes, you all probably passed me (#57), but that was ok with me, I knew that wouldn't be my strongest area. BUT I had high hopes for the run and I ran really well and passed quiet a few people, at least a dozen.  Thought maybe I'd feel sore or extra tired on Sunday but I didn't.  Guess that means I'm in the market for a road bike!

It was my 1st Tri and I had a great time! My overall time, 1:35:36, was much slower than my practice runs. I guess I'm not used to doing it with hundreds of other people around me. I'm a strong swimmer but neglected to start from the outside and got kicked hard in the ribs, regrouped and finished that leg with a 7:32. If you saw me out on the ride you would have thought I was just going for a leasurely ride in the country. I was looking at the houses, listening to the birds, and visited with a few other riders. Finished that leg with a 51:17. The run. What was wrong with me? The slowest 5K I have ever ran! Wasn't happy with my laces so I stopped and retied my shoes. At the turn around I stopped and had a cold drink, didn't even take it on the run! I then stopped again to check on a girl with leg cramps. An embarrassing 32:28.  No wonder I wasn't out of breath at the finish line! Now I know what to expect and see at a Triathlon and am ready to "tri" again!

Late to the post-race party, but I had a great first ever triathlon.  Took 1st inthe 40-44 Sprint age group.  Was fastest in the water overall at 3:56.  That was NOT 400 meters, by the way.  Had a stronger than anticipated bike (my worst event) and held on for the run.  Had a couple of people with me on the run and we pushed each other, which helped.

elong35 --- it was great meeting you at the Thursday transition practice, and shooting the bull with you beofre the start.  Did you notice we were talking to the eventual overall sprint winner before the start?  Smile  I was giving him trouble about wearing a wet suit.  Embarassed  Keep it up!  I know I am hooked!!!!  Now, onto the Shawnee Mission Park Tri this weekend!!!!!

I'm thinking that was about 325m.  They had a mess on their hands with the buoys after the windstorm the night before.  They were so screwed up they ended up going the opposite direction than the race maps indicated.  I think they just got to a point and said "F-it, just start the race."
