Yes, road my tt bike last year. Just don't use the bars in heavy traffic or mid paceline and you'll be fine.

Oops, sorry - in the middle of the paceline.

Only the lead rider should be on the aerobars (if at all).  If you are following close behind someone else, you should definitely not be on the aerobars.

Ok thanks.   I hope not to get any pack or whatever they call them.

I did this ride last year on my TT and it was no problem.  There is a hill a few miles in that was a little tough, but I wasn't in the greatest hill climbing shape.  I wish I could be out there again this year but I will be racing that weekend in AZ.

I'd add a 12-27 cassette might be helpful. 'Course I'm a sissy...

I'm really doing this to practice my pacing for IMCDA.  I have a 11-28 cassette.  I don’t think were sissies especially when we are going by those with the smaller cassettes smiling and they are dying on the hills.Tongue out

I rode this, well ~70ish miles of it anyway, last year with a 13-25 cassette and was getting a really good workout Smile  Until someone crashed into me and then I got to ride in the ambulance Cry  Missed the entire tri season with 3rd degree/full thickness road rash, broken bones and an AC separation that needed surgery.  Elephant Rock was the most crowded century ride I've done and with such a range of speeds (from people on tandem bikes to "racers") it felt a little dangerous.  Maybe there is a better time to start than whenever I did (there were routes of different mileages merging where I was run into) but there were 33 emergency room visits at Sky Ridge while I was there, and 9 ambulance calls on the same stretch of road as I crashed...(I think around mile 70, before County Line Road).  Anyway, be careful out there Smile

We did start super late in the day and didn't run into too much traffic.  We did happen to share some chit chat time with John Elway at the mile 70 aid station though.    Nice guy with a nice bike.

Sorry about the crash.  My head is always on a swivel, but it's going to be on double duty now. Thanks for the warning.

Anyone done the mountain bike course before? They haven't posted the route yet, so I am curious how tough it is?

Can't believe there was/is no buzz for E-Rock this year. Third year for me. Last year did the century, this year the metric again. Had fun, but it was not the wife's year. The smoke is really effecting her asthma. It was a long day... but she is still proudly a non sag wagon rider. For me it was like doing 60 miles of intervals.. max out, wait, max out, wait.... But it was a ride with the wife and that is what we had. She kept trying to race up the hills, but I would dial her back and pace her so she did not loose here breath. Did not take much. Still a good day.

The smoke is really depressing me though. Obviously it does not compare to those actually impacted by the fires, but depressing none the less.
