Would love to get a practice swim in. I am sure my training buddy will want to swim as well. Not sure what time we are getting there, probably mid afternoon.

I am definitely planning on an afternoon swim on Saturday.  I haven't been in the wetsuit in months.

I hope to meet up with a few other first timers to discuss the race course that day as well.

Anybody camping?

I hope to find a campsite on Saturday.  I may end up at Eldon Hazlet.

I'm staying at Hickory Shores campsite http://hickoryshoresresort.com/Facilities.html .  My BIL has a camper there.

I'm chomping at the bit to tackle the course again.  Running a 5k this Saturday, gotta keep movin'.

Read the facebook message yesterday saying the Army Corps of Engineers has given them a go for the course, as long as we don't get another deluge.  Hopefully, they will open the campgrounds soon.

I am looking forward to the e-mails form the RD next week.

That doesn't look good.

The Army Corps of Engineers have opened the flood gates and started letting water through a couple days ago.  Check out the Race Director's Facebook.  Also, you should have gotten an e-mail on May 11th from them.

"Hey just wanted to send a quick email as we are getting quite a few calls and emails asking about flooding and the race.

Please spread the word out there, we are a go!  I spoke with the U.S. Army Corps Lt. on Wednesday and without getting into his technical jargon he said barring a 7 day deluge of rain the water in Lake Carlyle will be great for our event.  They control release of water right there.  All flooding is decreasing in that immediate area and none has actually covered our bike course.  So he said "Green Light Kenny" "

So start getting ready!!

My biggest concern is whether there will be any dry camping sites.

Looking for recommendation for restaurant for Saturday evening. Also, if anyone wants to meet up, we'd enjoy meeting some of you IRL!

I'm interested in meeting up for a swim and possibly dinner.  How about 3:30 for a swim?

My training is down.  Out of town on business this week (choose live music and bbq in Nashville over training) and sick last week.  I'm hoping my fitness from NOLA carries over.  I feel pretty good but will start losing fitness soon if I don't get back at it.

There is a good one in Nashville (19miles south of Carlyle) - Girlamos (sp?(by courth house)

That may work.  Do we need to make reservations?

I plan on catching up with you all for the swim, at least.  Dinner plans will be more of a last minute thing.  Still waiting for find out the campground conditions, which will determine whether my wife and kids are coming as well.

Cannot wait for race day.

Just received the first e-mail from the Race Director.  Things are looking up for race day.

I also checked the Army Corps of Engineers website.  There optimistic that additional campsites will be opening by the weekend.

It was just something about a lot more snakes in the water this year.

The only thing I noted different in the two emails, is that the newest one indicated water temps in the mid to upper 60's.
