Year before last, I did it without a wetsuit..Kind of brisk/not hypothermic. Mid/low 70's?

Wetsuit last year and was more comfortable...OTOH, since it's mid-March and 80' already, maybe it'll be in the 90's by late April and it won't be wetsuit legal?

It's a small lake pond, so the temp can fluctuate.  The year I did it I went with the wetsuit because I suck at swimming and I can get out of the suit in about 5 seconds.  My wife went without and said it was just chilly.  She is tougher than me.

Last year was the first time I did JT and froze without a wetsuit.  Granted I freeze in most training pools, but this was especially cold.  Also, I distinctly remember being happy to get out of the water and having some kind of slime/algae/water plant hanging all over my legs and arms.  As Doug said, it's a pond, not a lake.

Great race. Weather was funky last year with rain the night before which cooled down the pond.  Lightning during the race knocked out the timing system for transitions (as legend has it). Your standard TTP race.

In for me again. Just looking forward to starting the season off right. And this time, I will be using a wetsuit (that is if it is allowed of course)

I hear they are extending the bike distance. 14 miles now?

If that is the case... how does the longer course factor into the Cap Vs. Phat battle?

Not good...need to limit the assumed damage on the bike...3 miles extra is going to make my life much more painful.

JT is my favorite way to start the tri season. The pond is not too bad - warm on the shore and cooler out in the middle. The bike course is fun, with the first three miles worthy of a hammer-fest before you get to the rolling hills. The run is fine, except until you get to the turn-around, which is a hill.

Last year, it rained right up to an hour (or so) before the race, then towards the end of the race. It killed the timing system for the bike leg.

Fun race and always a good showing by the BT peeps eager to show off their freshly shaved bodies and prove their winter workouts were more than 12oz arm curls.

Tri The Park races has been the first race for many of us on the board!  I hope you have a great day.  If you feel like introducing yourself, just look for the bar tender serving beers in a tri uniform, handing out $10 bills and eating a piece of paper.  If you find that guy, you found Slayer or me.

Has anyone confirmed that it will definitely be a 14.3 mile course?  Just curious.

From my understanding that is the new bike distance. It's changed on the website and I think I got an email a while back about it. So prep for it :-)
