Comments:

I went into the race a little nervous. One year ago I hit the wall hard at mile 19 on a course with less hills. My legs were feeling okay during the first half of the run but I could tell that there was some tightness so I just kept hydrating and keeping my Infinit intake going. I had two pee breaks before the halfway point costing about 2:30 total time.

The second half had a lot more ups and downs and my legs were feeling pretty good on the uphills so that was nice. I made it to mile 19 and was keeping my goal pace so that helped ease the mental burden some. I held a pace at or above goal until a nasty climb at mile 23. From that point I was just trying to hold my goal pace. At about 24.5 my right quad felt like it was going to try and cramp so I took the last of my Infinit and kept pushing through it. Mile 25 was above my goal pace by a few seconds. I finally made it to the home stretch and all the pain went away and I finished happy!
What would you do differently?:

Not much at all.

Warm down:

Walked back to the hotel with my wife and ate peanut butter M&M's while sneezing my head off from all the pollen.

Event comments:

A great race. My first time doing it and it went extremely well.

Thanks!  I finished the race yesterday with no regrets.  Well except for the having to stop at the port-a-potties twice.  Tongue out  I figured once one have been enough but I think I was overhydrating all weekend since I was doing to all the touristy stuff and wanting to make sure that I didn't go into Sunday not being topped off.  I ran as well as I could have yesterday.  I pushed it to the edge and didn't go over.  Finally!
