I'm thinking of this as a first 70.3 as well, assuming my foot gets better (injured in Feb, just back to running today!). Seems like a great race -- I haven't checked to see if there are still spots, maybe I should.

The hill climb sounds like a real barrel of laughs after coming out of the water

I'm in - and it will be my first HIM. I volunteered at this event last year (to get the lay of the land) - it was a very well run event. I recently got an e-mail saying they only have 100 slots for the HIM left. A sprint goes off the day before at the same locale.

Now to get the training in! I just started the HIM plan from this site (week two). What plan are others using? Anyone else done this distance before?

It is time for me to step it up.  PumpkinMan 13 week plan starts TOMORROW  6/13/11.  I am looking for some accountability and inspiration.  Maybe we can get this thread going!!!

Just signed up last night also for my first 70.3 as well!  Everything I read makes it sound like a great event so I can't wait.  Starting this week at week 13 of the HIM beginner plan from this site.  Any other good plans out there?  What do you like about the plan you have laid out to get to 70.3?

Just signed up!!! This will be my second 70.3 just did my first up at mooseman a few weeks ago. Its an amazing experience and I highly recommend it. I am looking forward to this since it is a privatly run race and not an Ironman, should be pretty different than mooseman was, though I did really enjoy the mooseman experience! I do agree that little hilll climb doesn't sound thrilling but it should be a good chance for your legs to warm up a bit before getting on the bike.

Lol I am trying to have a glass half full mentality, though i will probably be cursing as well, I was at mooseman as my legs were cramping as i entered T1 which wasn't a good sign for the bike and run, and that was with no hill climb! thankfully they subsided!

P.S. Registration sold out today!!!

Woot! Woot! It's officially full.

I'm using the HIM plan from BT - and noticing that there isn't a lot of running in the plan - anyone else have the same experience? Also - anyone a repeat offender? If so - any advice for us first timers?

Drove up to Berwick for a 40 mile training ride today on the pumpkinman course.  The 40 miles included a good majority of the climbing on the course.  Felt like a fair course with a few gradual climbs and downhills to keep the legs moving, but nothing too surprising.  Attached is a cue sheet for our ride in case anyone else is interested.  The ride starts and finishes at the parking lot of Noble Middle School in Berwick, ME.

Happy 4th everyone, hope your training is going well!

So, how did this go for everyone? I had signed up for this a long time ago, but backed out due to a foot injury which shelved my running for 3 months.

Hope everyone had a great race!!

Curious about the hill climb out of the water, and the post race meal!
