Comments:

swim started ok, after about 100m i ended up doing a turn and as i was coming back up i got caught on the lane line and that kind of threw me off for some reason and i had a hard time getting back into a good rythem. but i guess it went fine.
What would you do differently?:

not try to drown myself on the lane line
Transition 1
  • 03m 2s
Comments:

everything was going ok until i tried to decide on weather to put on my bike jersey or not. it was really cold running out of the indoor pool to the outside, and i thought i would just stuff it in the back of my tri top and put it on if i needed it...i probably fumbled with that for about 1 min until i decided to just drop it and not take it. ended up not needing it, but cost me about a min in transition which is forever in a sprint.
What would you do differently?:

not fool around with that!
Bike

Comments:

started out a bit slow, passed a few people and settled in....there were some rollers, but nothing too steep, had a bit of trouble finding my groovy gear...but at about mile 4 i put in the big ring and started hammering it (for me) and passed a few more. by this point the better bikers who started behind me on the swim were catching and passing me, but i still felt strong. the ride back in was nice with a bit of a tail wind and i upped the pace. had a few stretches over 20mph according to my garmin, which is nice! spun the legs the last 1/2 mile to loosen the up.
What would you do differently?:

more time on the bike to find what gear i like to settle into.
Transition 2
  • 01m 3s
Comments:

racked the bike, changed shoes, switched hemlmet for cap and was off...was a good transition.
What would you do differently?:

not much
Run
  • 30m 33s
  • 3.1 miles
  • 09m 51s  min/mile
Comments:

run was a bit of a struggle....right out of T2 i felt ok, but had trouble catching my breath. walked the first water station at the out and back, and then again and i came back by it. definitely my best 5k for a tri, as i was under 10's, but never felt like i was rocking it. was happy for the run to be over!
What would you do differently?:

brick training to get my lungs off the bike!
Post race
Warm down:

found Pete and Mike, took some pictures and drank choco milk...pete had to get back so we took off early.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

more practice! was sick this week, and without making excuses, i wonder if it affected my preformance at all? keep working at it!
