Total Time = 2h 30m 54s
Overall Rank = 86ish/800
Age Group = Clydesdale
Age Group Rank = 1/16
Pre-race routine:

Woke up early had a bowl of greek yogurt, banana, and honey oaks. Drove and had everything setup early.
Event warmup:

Walking to the boat and sitting around till start
Swim
  • 30m 36s
  • 1640 yards
  • 01m 52s / 100 yards
Comments:

I need to work on swimming straighter. I was hoping to actually beat 30 min for once in an Olympic. Picked on buoy for sighting that happenend to be the farthest right and swam to the right of it and had to make my way back to the bouy line.

What would you do differently?:

Work on swimming straight in open water
Transition 1
  • 03m 25s
Comments:

I was racked at the front and took a slower run over the long haul to transition.

Also I cut the side of my foot on a sprinkler head on Friday so I took the time to put socks on and this slowed down the transition. This is a guess since my bike time is included in the results
Bike
  • 1h 04m 30s
  • 24.85 miles
  • 23.12 mile/hr
Comments:

Goal was to keep it at 230 watts which is my threshold. I need to check my garmin and see what I actually averaged.
Transition 2
  • 00m 45s
Comments:

Shoe came unclipped when I jumped off. had to stop and take a step back to get it and apologize to the people behind me.
Run
  • 51m 35s
  • 6.2 miles
  • 08m 19s  min/mile
Comments:

With training for Ironman Texas I wasn't sure how this would go. I had a 17 miler on Friday and rode 40 miles on Saturday with my wife on the Galveston course as her last prep ride for the 70.3. I was hoping to avg a sub 8 but legs got really tired around mile 4. Overall a good run though.
Post race
Warm down:

Got some food and water and hung around and talked to some pro's. Every professional I talked to was awesome.

My wife told me it is now time to quit racing clydes (still about 205) and got a question in transition if I was still a clyde after racing.

Thanks Keri,

Sorry to read about your tough race.  I hope you are feeling better!

You are so sweet. There was crying and coughing and more crying but I am getting better. Looking for another race before Bridgeland. BTW - I met your adorable wife at the Katy YMCA pool months ago. Such a rockin' fast couple!
