Hi,

I won an entry to this race. Please tell me about this event: swim info, bike route, run, and overall.

Thanks, Nicole

Pool swim, TT start based on your anticipated swim time.  They have two pools and start at both ends (fastest and slowest) of the line.   You jump in a lane when someone else jumps out, so you swim 400m splitting a lane.  Bike is rolling to a little hilly.  Was more hilly in prior years, but they had to change it last year and I'm not sure if they are keeping the same course or not.  Run is also rolling hills and no shade...it can get hot!  Both run and bike finish going up the club driveway which is pretty steep.

All and all, it's a very well run race and friendly atmosphere.  It seems like there are lots of beginners and people more out for a good time than uber competitive people.  It was my first race three years ago and have done it each year since (and will be again).

He forgot to mention that he was sand bagging last year and will have a good chance of taking first place OA. Sealed

I mapped the routes last night and it looks more than "a little hilly". Yes?

haha, I agree that me calling a course "a little hilly" is probably the worst description I could ever give   It's a little hilly compared to western MD/Westminster area but probably straight up hilly compared to AA county.  930 ft of elevation over 14 miles.  Just compared to Northeast sprint, which is about 775 over 14.5.  So a little hillier than NE I guess.

Haha, no sand bagging last year, I really suprised myself with how well I did.  But I did buy some free speed over the winter (latex tubes), so watch out!

Hi,

I biked the course today, and ran part of the run, too. No steep climbs, but the back stretch is a long grind.

Where do they put transition, and what's the parking like and what's it like getting out after?

Thanks!

The transition is right by the pool.  ALso the parking is all along the access road on Rt 26.  Great small low key race.

Does anyone know if the pools are really 25m, as opposed to 25yds?

Thanks to everyone who provided me with info leading up to this race. I had a great race and placed 2nd in my AG, my first time placing!

Joe, I looked for you before the race but your bike spot was empty; what happened?

Do you mean me? I had to drop out (along with columbia and eagleman). For the past two months I have been getting vertigo when I run that doesn't go away for hours to days so I haven't been able to train or race.

This is always a good race, run by good people. I plan to do this one again soon.
