I really wish I knew what happened. As soon as I started the bike I noticed my HR was around 20 beats higher then it should be for the effort I was putting out. So I stuck with with effort and not HR since my MPH looked about right. Around 30 miles my legs started cramping. I also had a hard time taking in my calories in drink form/liquids so I just took in more gel to make up for it. I ended the bike with about 30 oz. of liquids that should of been drank. By the time I hit the run I was feeling dehydrated and decided to DNF instead of run/walk.

Keith,

I am very sorry to hear about the dnf, but I believe you made a right choice. The heart is a very important muscle in our bodies to ignore the signs that something is wrong. Don't feel bad, take a rest. Your body and HR will go back to normal and we'll race again

Anyone else find the bike about 2 miles short. Not that I really care but just wondering. I had it a mile short on each lap for 54 total miles.

Oly Bike was dead on.  They should have easily been able to get the HIM bike distance exact, with the out and back section, so not sure why that happened.
