Hey guys.  I just wanted to give everyone a heads up that I'm going to be dropping off for a while.  I have some personal issues that I need to attend to.  I need to focus on them and get workouts in as I can (not the other way around like I have been for the last two years).  If someone could shoot me a PM if there is a winter thread started I would appreciate it. I'm not sure how active I'll be in the short term but once I get things back on track I definately want to hang out with everyone again.

Thanks,

Hope everything gets back on track for you soon. It's good to remember that personal issues have to take priority.

Anyone interested in doing the winter cycling plan? It made we ALOT faster on the bike last year. I'm gonna give it another go. Did the 20 minute FT test this morning. Thought I was having a heart attack. If you do this program, you WILL be faster next year.

I'm doing v4, currently on week 3. You guys are all using power right? At the moment, my budget won't stretch to a PM, so having to do the HR version.

Quick opinion from you guys please.

Next year I'll be doing my first HIM and am now thinking of adding an Oly 1 month before hand. The way I see it, the Oly should be at about peak training week and shouldn't really affect my HIM training (or might even be considered part of it). Am I thinking correctly or will it have a negative affect on my HIM?

Should be fine. If HIM is your A race, just consider the oly a good hard workout. I need some input as well. Just sold my Felt. A training buddy made me an offer I couldnt refuse. So, now, I'm shopping. What should I ride? Definitely gonna give the Shiv a try. Budget is around $5k.

OLY one month out should be fine.  I did my OLY A race one month out, and performed well.  I believe it was a good tune up for the HIM.

Just don't cut the swim course short like I did and have to DQ yourself.

I did the same thing this year and trained through the oly.  I may not have done as well as I could've in the oly since the training was different and there was no proper taper but it didn't have any negative affects on my HIM.  I would even do it that way again.

Thanks guys, pretty much what I thought.

On a secondary note, this morning's run has finally taken me over the 100miles in 1 month milestone!! Closest I've ever come before was 93miles back in Jan.

Well fellas,

After finishing my half marathon a couple of weeks ago, I've done nothing since.  Until this morning, when I got up and ran 3 miles.  Felt good, but man, two weeks off makes it hard to get back into it.

Hope everyone is doing well.

And I hope everyone has a happy holiday season.

Sorry folks, I've been MIA.

I got back Dec 15 from my work in Missouri. I participated in a 5k race on Dec 18. I managed to pull my achilles. I haven't  been right since.

I've gone to the dr. I'm doing PT. I'm stretching like a mad man. I've lowered my bike seat some. I can ride and swim. I haven't done a whole lot of either. I'm in the slumps.

I have been doing crossfit when I can squeeze it in at lunch, and WOW. I joined a crossfit gym in Missouri and enjoyed it. I really did. I will continue that for now and hopefully get my butt back in gear soon.

PT is supposed to let me start running today, pending anything crazy. We'll see. Until then, I do feel kinda deflated.

I haven't even planned anything fun for 2012 race season...

I understand that.  I had some plantar issues in early December, and got sidelined for a few weeks.  Totally deflated me.  I've gained 15lbs and gotten totally off track for the upcoming season.

Sounds like you are making some good progress though in getting back at it.

Are you doing the 5k swim again this year?

What does everyone's upcoming season look like?
