Pre-race routine:

Woke up at 4 am, had coffee and small breakfast, drove an hour to race site, got nervous since bike route was on some questionable country roads.
Event warmup:

Stretching, foam rolled my IT bands before leaving, my ITBS is getting much better.

The first 100Y I maintained my form and was doing great, then everything fell apart and the swim turned into a struggle to get through it

I really gassed it on the bike, I am still shaken up from my run-in with a vicious pit bull a few weeks ago, almost to the point of not wanting to do this race.About 6 people were heading out on the bike I and rushed to get out with them. I kept up with everyone, because the theory in my head was if I stayed with people I had less of a chance of getting attacked if a vicious dog showed up. The bike route passed some questionable looking homes so that scared me a little.I followed the rules and stayed at least 2 bike lengths behind another racer. I pushed a pace faster than I was comfortable with, but this was a race so it was ok to give it all I had.
What would you do differently?:

I'm happy with my bike time, I just with the pit bull thing didn't happen a few weeks about, it has really shaken me up and I am having trouble getting pass it.

My fastest run ever in a triathlon. I could really feel the effects of gassing it on the bike, but I just kept pushing it.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing, I was happy with how I was able to push it on the run

Warm down:

Ate some food, met some really cool people. Place 3rd female overall, so waited around for the award ceremony

What limited your ability to perform faster:

swimming, need to train more in it
