I have done several sprint tri's and now am registered for my first Olympic tri in July.  I am excited and want to move to a 1/2 IronMan (hopefully in Sept.) and then a full IronMan next year.  I am nervous and am curious if I should hire a trainer especially for the IronMan.  I have a personal trainer 2 x's/week for weight training but think I need some coaching especially for the swim.  Any suggestions?

If you have the time and the money coaches are always the best...

hi Karla! Welcome to BT and congrats on your triathlons. Good luck with your plans.

There are all kinds of coaching and coaching options, and if you have the means to acquire a personal coach (especially one who will help you with your swimming as well as your overall progression), by all means do.

There's also the option of getting a coach or getting private or group lessons just for swimming.

coaches are great, but you can do it alone. I did a half and a full iron in my second year of racing (they were my 5th and 6th tris ever). I read lots of books and made my own plan to fit my schedule.
