Comments:

I was back in Boston for the second straight year. This time for a little revenge after a late race fade last year. The goal was sub 3. More specifically, the goal was to run a conservative first 10-13 miles then pick up the pace and attack the hills. I would pay no attention to who was passing me and would go out easy.
I also planned to drink at every aid station. I did this as well as took drinks from kids along the way.
This race is absolutely amazing. I wore my Mississippi State Bulldog shirt and got lots of comments!
I ran the first mile in 7:06. Perfect. I would run a little slower than goal pace for the first few miles.
My Garmin battery died, but here are the stats up til that point.

1 00:07:06
2 00:06:54
3 00:06:52
4 00:06:52
5 00:06:57
6 00:06:44
7 00:06:57
8 00:06:54
9 00:06:53
10 00:06:50
11 00:06:48
12 00:06:39
13 00:06:45
14 00:06:46
15 00:06:47
16 00:06:41
17 00:06:48
18 00:06:46
19 00:06:36
20 00:06:37

I continued the easy pace until mile 10, where I still felt good and began allowing myself to work harder.
I crossed the half in 1:30:28. I still felt good and thought I could put down a negative split, despite the hills.
I knew my family was waiting for me around mile 20. I stopped to kiss my wife.
I passed many people from mile 15 on. It is so easy to go out too fast at Boston.
My garmin died about mile 21, so I had no idea of my time between miles. I had to rely on the clocks at each mile. I began to tire, but held on for a 2:58:23 finish.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing
Post race

A negative split at any marathon is smart, hard core running form and totally badazz. But doing it at Boston is simply amazing. Great race!
