x3

No way I could have managed training for an Ironman without his manageable weekday workouts.  It was a good read too.

Oh and as for the whole 2012 Ironman thing... I'm waiting to see what the posse decides.  I'm not super anxious to do one again, so either 2012 or 2013 works for me, but I definitely enjoyed training with friends.

I think next year is an off year for me.  At least that is the current plan.  But maybe by the following year I will be ready to get back to it.

Nobody wants to do Lake Placid?  C'mon, do Lake Place.

I'm currently registered to volunteer at Ironman Lake Placid this year so that I can register on-site for the 2012 IM Lake Placid.

It's nice to see lots of people thinking about doing an IM next year.  As much as I was a fan of the plan I followed, it was really training with a big group that got me prepared for Louisville.  It's nice to have a group for long rides and runs.

IMFL for 2012 is looking pretty likely for me. I have a goal of doing all N.American IMs, and want to stick with it by going one a year (maybe 2 if i have the funds). Right now, FL looks the most reasonable when comparing with IMAZ. Besides it will give me a chance to focus on short course stuff earlier in the year.

Just talking to a friend about doing an Ironman in 2012. For those of you that have done either any preferences between IMFL and B2B. Was looking for one reasonably close but maybe make a family trip out of it.

Thanks

I've done B2B, but not IMFL:

The two races are very similar.

B2B's swim is generally easier because there is a current helping you most of the time, and you can get waves at IMFL.  Both are wetsuit legal.

The bike is the same.  Flat and a high chance of wind.

The run at B2B is more hilly so it's tougher, but it's not a lot of hills.

B2B doesn't have the crowd or the feel of an IM because the number of entrants is way less.  The crowd on the run course was about the same as what was at IM Lou last year, so it's more about how crowded the town is and how much the event takes over the town.

B2B is very well run.

B2B isn't an Ironman brand, so you have to decide how important that is to you.

Doug,

Thanks for the all the info, IMFL might be a little warmer that time of year as well which might be more fun for the family. After all it's all about a family vacation with a triathlon snuck in there, ha.

Speaking for the family - I thought B2B was lovely.  Wrightsville Beach was beautiful and it was just a short drive to get to downtown Wilmington to see the action.  The Battleship looked really cool - might be fun to tour with your kids.  You may be right about the temperature, though.  It got hot during the middle of the day when Doug was racing, but the morning and evening were cool.
