I did it last year as my first 100.  I finished in 21:15.  PM me if you need any help.  Lots of pics on the website.  Great race!  Aaravapi is a great company.

I have not run Pemberton, but I have biked it (counterclockwise) many times.  In that direction, from the TH you will be on a gradual climb that lasts about 6 miles (a few dips along the way).  You'll hang a left at the fence and then the rollers start.  On a bike it's a blast because you have momentum, but running could be different.  This goes on for a few miles and then you reach the Tonto intersection.  There is a short, gradual climb after that, which leads into a nice descent.  You'll drop down into the "pit" area.  This is where it starts to get sandy.  Right before you get back to the road you hit the sandy wash portion (it's short!) and then a quick, steep uphill before getting back into some rollers.  Once you cross the road, it's a quick jog on some baby rollers back to the TH.

The sandy part they speak of is nothing.  The "hills" are nothing to be worried about.  I still walked up all of them but nothing like mountain race.  I think you will find most runners like the clockwise direction better.  The down hill portion of that direction is very nice groomed ground.  On the counterclockwise loop the downhill is a little more rocky and slightly harder to run but still not bad at all.

Hi! I have run Javelina 100 2x. I really enjoyed the race. I do like to run in heat, I loved the full moon-no lights were required. I live in MN so the heat of AZ was a treat!

I have photos on my blog: www.julieberg.blogspot.com

I have entered my first tris ever this summer. An ultrarunner ready to try the tri!

Did you sign up for the 2011 event?  I didn't see a Rachel on there.  I am looking for some people to race around/with that are looking to go sub 24.  Do you have a race time in mind?

I cant believe there are 280 people signed up for this already.  Wow.

Anyone on this forum racing this weekend?  It looks like a possible 100 miles in the rain.  Yikes.   Any ideas to help prevent a dnf via freezing to death?

Many of the tips on here were great taking into the race.  Thank you everyone!  Unfortunately no photos or videos to share.  Someday I will get with it and have stellar videos like Steve in IL.  I ended up kicking too many rocks and lost a few toenails.  Came in just under 26 hours with about 2 hours of down time.  Who cares though... I finished my first 100!    Overall, this race was extremely well organized and I am about 99% sure I will be back to see if I can go sub 24 in 2012.  I highly recommend you look into this race....its like running in another world out in that Arizona desert.

Once again, thank you everyone for all of your tips...especially the walk up the hills one.

There are a ton of photos and race reports in the results section of their website as well.
