Subject: Does anyone live in Bradenton?

Hi everyone.

I'm about to move from the north Tampa area down to Bradenton in a few weeks.  I've got a great group of people up here that I train with pretty regularly, and that are going to be seriously missed when I move over an hour away.

I'm wondering if there is anyone in the Bradenton area who trains with a group, or who might be interested in a training partner?  I don't know the area well at all, so I could use suggestions on adult swim friendly gyms, places to bike and run, OWS locations, etc as well.

Feel free to post here or PM me if you're more comfortable.

Thanks a bunch!

I'm in west Bradenton and love it.  I live near GT Bray Park, where there is a 1.5 mile paved trail for running and a outdoor pool.  There is also a YMCA that has an indoor pool and fitness center with spin classes, this is where I swim.  There are two LBS that do group rides, Ringling Bicycles and Ryder Bikes.  I ride with the Ryder group on Saturday mornings, 35 miles @ 20 mph.  There are also two great public beaches to do OWS at, Manatee Public and Coquina Beach.  Best part of our beaches, no tolls and free parking!  Hope its a good move for you and if you have any questions feel free to send me a PM.  I've been in Bradenton for 15+ years and would be glad to help get you going.

Great info, thanks for asking the question Nicole!  I will be moving to Palmetto (over by the Sysco foods) at the end of June.  I have been trying to scout out some safe biking areas each time I go out to check the progress of our house.

GOOD LUCK tomorrow CW!

thats near my area, you can go up 41 to right on moccasin wallow left on 301, left on buckeye and follow that through the neighboods back to 41 south to right on experimental farm road then head to Terra Ceia island for a decent loop.

OWS about 14 miles north at little harbor and run anywhere

lol o boy I guess I should have come on here before having the house built in Palmetto.  Is it really bad out there?  Are you familiar with Crystal lakes neighborhood?  Its about 2 miles from Buffalo creek schools going toward 41.

I will check out the loop and thanks for the advice and directions.

Not that bad, that's just its nickname. That area is building up a bunch. Is it a Ryland home?

Gotcha,  I am originally from Upstate NY.  Apparently I am 0-2 for picking areas since I live in Pinellas Park right now.  It is a Taylor Morrison home.

Sorry for Hijacking the thread Nicole!

Yes it is horrible here at the Villas at Gateway apartments.  The end of June can't come fast enough.

I live in Parrish and love to use Buckeye for my rides. Nice stretch, very little traffic....just a little rough in a few places west of the overpass. I don't do Moccasin Wallow much because it's a bit too much traffic for my comfort level, with no shoulder.

Hi Nicole, Welcome the to the area. I live in the Palma Sola area and jog in the Robinson preserve, a nice 3 mile loop and drive to Longboat Key for bike rides where there are nice bike lanes and not so much traffic. The island is about 10 miles long but you can go further into Sarasota for more distance. And there are several good places for open water swims..
Also, some guys from Ryder bikes meet thursday mornings for OWS at the beach where Manatee ave. ends.. I hope this helps..
