This will be my biggest race to date and all season. At this point most of the training is in the bank. However, I have a few questions to the HIM crowd about nutrition. How often do I need to GU? I expect to be on the coarse 3-4 hours. Historically, I gu one per hour. Is that too much/too litte?

Here is what I would do, at a minimum. 15 min, before the start of the swim, take a GU and an electrolyte. After you get on the bike and your HR comes down, take another GU and electrolyte. Then repeat every 30 min through the rest of the bike and run. Make sure you have at least 1 extra GU, in reserve, on the bike and run just in case.

For electrolytes I like a product called Electrolyte Stamina. It is made by Trace Minerals Research and I get it at Whole Foods.

Cool...thanks!

So my garmin only showed 8.67 miles on the run for the X50. Anyone else find that? My friends said 8.7.

Great venue and well run race but man those roads sucked really bad.  Too bad they can't get street sweepers out there.  If the roads were decent, this would be perfect.

I had 8.81 miles on my garmen but then again I had 43.2 miles on my bike ride...   I know several people had between 42.5 and over 43 miles on their bike comps...

The roads were a bit rouch for the first 6 or so miles out of transition.  I did see quite a bit of people cutting the run course short which was dissappointing.

Overall it was a fun race and the run course was nice since most of it was in the shade

My garmin read 41.60 on my bike segment. I didn't see people cutting the run course, but I saw TONS of people cutting in front of the buoys on the swim. CHEATERS!!! Oh well, I still won my age bracket so alot of good it did them!!!
