Total Time = 1h 20m 57s
Overall Rank = 11/50
Age Group = 40-49
Age Group Rank = 1/10
Pre-race routine:

was up before the alarm, drank my 1/2 cup of coffee, OJ with Mila.
Event warmup:

didn't really feel like warming up today but I did get in the water and swim a little and stretched.
Swim
  • 14m 13s
  • 750 meters
  • 01m 54s / 100 meters
Comments:

the start is a mass start with both sexes and relays, kind of congested, my line was a great shot to the first buoy but ended up swimming right trough some brown sludge YUCK! lost my swim buddy after the first buoy and another friend was right with me the whole time, kind of bumping each other along the way which was bothering me, not sure whose fault...
What would you do differently?:

stay with my swim buddy, she is a little faster and good navigator and we know how to keep our distance...
Transition 1
  • 02m 2s
Comments:

had a little bit of a run to the transition, had a little trouble getting into my clips, the ground is old asphalt with lots of sand so you need to precede with caution.
What would you do differently?:

practice mounting the bike, I do have new clips, thought I had it down...
Bike
  • 37m 5s
  • 12.4 miles
  • 20.06 mile/hr
Comments:

I was with the same gal back and forth on the way up, got ahead of her before the turn around, only one male passed me on the way back.
What would you do differently?:

not sure.
Transition 2
  • 00m 57s
Comments:

had a little trouble getting the bike back in the rack...
What would you do differently?:

still a fast transition
Run
  • 26m 34s
  • 3.1 miles
  • 08m 34s  min/mile
Comments:

she's back... I knew I would be with this gal through the race but I didn't think this close! We definitely were pushing each other and keeping us at race pace. We both walked up a short steep hill together and when we realized we were stuck with each other we decided to finish together, in a couple of the pictures I was slightly ahead, I also had my number facing forward and she had her # facing back, they gave me first in our age group her second, we were 3rd females overall! She did beat me by seconds in the swim in run, I dominated on the bike.
What would you do differently?:

run faster!
Post race
Warm down:

walk around and stretch.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

lack of swim time...

Event comments:

small race, everyone knows everyone, we had a tourist sign up last minute, we gave her our extra gear and showed her the course last week, she was from Alaska, the only thing she had been doing is skiing all winter, I love that!

Great race.  It sounds like fun - I like being with other race people.  And great that you got ahead of her (ieven if it was just a tiny bit!)
