Comments: I hit mile 1 at about 7:30 - which makes me believe this was not placed at mile one, so I'm not sure how my pace was. Mile 3 seemed very long, also into headwind. I tried to speed up but had trouble keeping focused. The last 100 I had a decent sprint. My goal was 30:00, I made 30:35 - which is a 5 min time cut from last year. What would you do differently?: Leave earlier so I can start on time. Eat earlier or less - or have less the night before. Post race
Warm down: about 2 min jog/walk in parking lot before turning in my race chip - then walking around church campus What limited your ability to perform faster: I felt somewhat sick during mile 3 - I think eating less may have helped. I am finally learning how to "race" so I was conscious of what speeds I needed for my goal, but it would have helped if I would have tried to draft and find wind blocks during the last mile. Event comments: I am impressed by this race each year. The course is well marked, there are lots of friendly volunteers, lots of wonderful vendors with food and post race activities. I enjoyed this race again this year and I'm very glad this was the first 5k I chose to run. Last updated: 2011-05-01 12:00 AM
