TH3_FRB - 2005-08-29 1:49 PM They usually have Power Gel at one station around the 9 mile mark...not sure what the gel of choice is this year but as I remember from last year, mile 9-10 was a bit late to fuel up so you might consider carrying your own gel...or just double up at the Hasher beer stop

Do you drink or have you tried amino vital?  I hear it's pretty gross, which makes me think it's different than Powerade or Gatorade.  I'm trying to figure out if I need to bring my itsy bitsy sports bottle iwht my own sports drink in it.

Sorry, never tried the stuff.  They should be giving samples out at the Sports Expo during packet pick-up though so you can try it there.

They've had amino vital at the sprint races I've done this summer.  All I've had is the water.  It tastes like water but it has the aminos and electrolytes in it.  No energy in the plain water.  Not sure about their other products, but I'm sure they'll be passing out some sort of sugar water, don't ya think?  Let's hope, 'cause I really don't want to carry my own...I'm still debating about the beer whilst running.  I guess it depends on how I run the race (our friend has injured his hamstring, so my husband is expecting me to carry him, but not sure he wants to hold my pace...so-do I just let go of my secret time and just have fun with it?????  If I do, I may have 2 at the Hashers)

I'm definitely running this one for fun.  I have only gotten in one 10 mile run- this is the least prepared I have ever been for a race.  Oh well...I am still trying to figure out what do about the drink selection on the course. I would feel more comfortable having my own because I have never trained with amino-vital before.  Hmmm..decisions.

Actually, I have an OW swim on my training schedule for that morning...about 45min.  I have a nice spot where we usually swim in the bay if anyone is interested in meeting up...not TOO early...maybe 9am?  We can meet up at Final Kick and walk down to the bay.

Ooohhh...That sounds fun.  I may be up for that depending on what we are doing with our friends/ transportation.  We are staying inland about 1 mile from the beach, and I'll have access to a bike, so if I can get there (wherever you all decide) I will!

Never mind...I map quested it and got driving directions from where we're staying.  It's only 17 minutes away- not bad.

Ok, I just mapquested too...and I think I may be out for the bay swim...I'm sort of at the mercy of our friends and my husband (who thinks I'm really goofy for going on this site and "meeting" people) and kids...I'll probably have to do my ow swimming while playing at the beach.  So have we made a definite plan for meeting after the race?  The "B" section-look for a bt sign??  I won't be online from wed. evening on, and I don't want to miss out on the fun!!

Not sure what to do about hte sign since everyone is running.  Maybe the first person who will finish should bring a sign?  I think meeting under the letter B is a good idea.  We just need a sign and a person to hold it.

By executive decision (runnergirl28 and I) we have decided if you want to meet after the race, meet in the "B" section and put a BT in bold on your race bib in the upper corner.  Hopefully people won't think we are just staring at their crotches.

And actually that might work- if we look like we're staring at crotches, then we'll be able to recognize another.  We'll think...oooh there's another crotch looker- she must be a BT'er!  LOL!

I'm in too!  Just me and 20,000 of my closest running buddies.    This is my first long race.  The longest before this has been a 5k.  I'm back in corral #14.  I will be looking for all the beer I can find!

Okay Rock n' Rollers, just confirming our OWS swim for Saturday morning at 9am. We'll meet at Final Kick (2242 W. Great Neck Road Va Beach, VA 23451) and walk down to the bay...3-4 blocks. I plan to swim for about 45min. The shop opens at 7am on Saturday in case you want to show up early and do some shopping. There is also a place in the shop to change and store your gear. The Bay is very warm so you probably don't want to wear a wetsuit...although the jellyfish have been a bit of a problem lately. I've only been stung once this summer. Ring my cell phone if you're not going to make it there by 9am so we wait for you. 757-618-9933
