Subject: LG Vorttice Helmet: any feedback/reviews?

Looking at buying one, wondering if any BTers have one now and what they think about it if they do. Also would like to see if anyone knows of independent reviews, especially wind tunnel testing, on this helmet. Have there been any reported issues, particularly like the tearing of the earflaps as with the Giro Advantage 2?

I have one, but unfortunately can't answer any of your questions. I haven't heard of any issues with the ear flaps, nor have I seen any independent wind tunnel data. I'm happy with the helmet, it fits well. I can't comment on the ventilation because my only race in it so far was in cool weather. That will change after this weekend.

One issue I have heard is that the dial for tightening the helmet may interfere with the underside tail cover. I've heard one person complain about this. It's easily fixed by removing part of the tail cover, but who wants to do this to their brand new helmet? I haven't had this issue though.

Overall I'm happy with the helmet. Probably because it's new and looks cool.

its quite bulbous compared to some of your other options.

id say the 2 best helmets on the market or soon to be are the rudy project wingspan and the new short tailed giro helmet with an adjustable tail.

Word is that "bulbous" is more aero.

What exactly are you basing your recommendations on?

time i spent in the wind tunnel

its really hard to beat the rudy project wingspan if it fits.  its so adjustable in terms of aerodynamic/heat options.

You spent time in a wind tunnel with a helmet that's not yet available?

Even though I don't run one, at our local TT race a few nights ago, there were about six people wearing them.  After asking how everyone liked them, all six are digging them so far.  A few of the guys wear glasses, the visor worked well, allowing them to keep there glasses in place.  Picking up the helmet, seems like the ear pieces will be ALLOT stronger than the GIRO advantage 2 or my Lazar Tardiz.

P.S.  Did you see how many pros at the WILDFLOWER had this helmet on, wow.  Either a ton of LG sponsorships going out or somewhat decent helmet haha.

It's a decent helmet.  Personally, it's more comfortable than the Advantage 2 because of my ears. The helmet also comes with a great visor!
