Pre-race routine:

Yogurt in the morning. Bagel and banana on the way to the race. Then had a powerbar an hour pre-race, and 1 gel 15 minutes pre-race.
Event warmup:

Light calf stretching, jogged from the port-o-johns to my corral.
Run
  • 1h 54m 25s
  • 13.1 miles
  • 08m 44s  min/mile
Comments:

Had a great run, was worried I had gone out too fast, but I don't think so. Slowed a little bit in the middle, but every split was under 9:00. Had to stop and pee 3 miles in because I didn't get a chance for a last second pee at the start. Hit about every other aid station for the first half, and then every single one the last half. Jogged the early ones, walked the later ones.
What would you do differently?:

Try to not have to stop and pee. Apply body glide to other important places than just my feet (ouch).
Post race
Warm down:

Walked around, talked, met up with family and friends. Pigged out at Qdoba later.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

The last 2.5-3 miles were very rough, but I stuck it out. Obviously more mileage in training probably would have made them a lot easier to handle, having only gone 13.1 once in training. My legs were on fire at the end, and I felt ready to drop, which I suppose is good in the sense that I didn't leave much out on the course. Looking forward to see how much I can improve before the USAF Half in September.

Event comments:

Ran very well for such a large race. I was in "preferred" seeding, but was worried that there would be too many varied times near me, but it wasn't too bad. I had to do a little bit of short sprinting and dodging early on, although the crowd at the beginning probably helped me keep from going out way too fast. Everything went great. Top 18% overall, top 35% M25-29.
