SPARTAN race...what did I get myself into?

Elite  4583   |  Subject: SPARTAN race...what did I get myself into?Three of my senior boys who ran cross country for me needed a 4th person for their 4 man team for this so called Spartan race. The only person they could think of nutty enough and fit enough to do it with them was me. I said sure and then looked it up. Ummm...has anybody else done this race? I'm a little worried since there is a death waiver to sign. Gulp. |

It's only a 5k(at least thats the one I did)... considering some of the work outs ive seen you post every day... you can handle it with no problem.... don't wear anything you dont want to ruin.... my stuff is still stained with mud! |

It does look fun-I've never done anything like it before in my life! Yay for a new adventure! This one is in Utah and is an 8 mile course. It's out at Soldier Hollow--one of the winter Olympic venues. Good tip on the clothing...although I don't want to know why so much mud! |

Member 113 Long Island | Subject: RE: SPARTAN race...what did I get myself into? 8 Miles? haha... crazy.... well if you can do so much as a half marathon... you'll be fine... at mine they had obsticals like jumping hurdles, crawling through mud under barbed wire, climbing up walls as they threw lard on to them.... that was "fun"... I fell off the wall and they made me do 50 push ups lol a lot of climbing walls and cargo nets, running up hills and crawling under/through stuff... it is an adventure though... take a before/after pic... its funny how dirty you get after the race |

It's good to run it with others so you can help each other over the walls. On the 8 mile course there will be 15 obstacles, any one that you don't complete correctly will require you to do 30 burpees! BTW, not doing it correctly can include falling back down a wall - no starting over; it's burpee time! Our wave started at 11 am in about 85* weather. They have limited water on the course (spartans don't need water), so I hope you have a bit cooler weather! You're going to have a blast! |
