Swim
Comments: About as good as I could expect since only swam 4 times in 3 weeks leading into race. Was happy. Need to put the time in if I want to be able to race with the front pack. Transition 1
Comments: Went good and fairly fast for a wetsuit transition. Bike
Comments: I really dislike the road surface on this course. With good roads it would be a great course. It has lots of filled in potholes and just generally really rough for 12 of the 18 miles. I am a very rhythm driven rider and I just couldn't find a smooth rhythm on the rough part of the course. On the smooth I could put out the watts I wanted. I averaged about 20 less than my goal watts. I was in no mans land I never saw anyone in my age group. the only two people that passed me was two women where one was a relay and the other finished 4th overall. I think I could have pushed harder if I was in the race more. Transition 2
Comments: Had a good transition here. Didn't cramp in my calf trying to get my shoes on like at TGator. Run
Comments: I wanted to run a 23 so I was somewhat happy. Just like the bike, I was in no-man's land and didn't have anyone to race.I got passed by one relay runner and one man in the 40s age group that ran a 20. Other than that I passed a couple of guys in the 2nd wave that started after me that must have passed me in the water. I think I could have went faster here like on the bike if I would have had more people to race. I felt better the 3rd mile than the first two. It took me a while for my legs to come in all the way.
