Event warmup:

Short warm up in pool
Swim
  • 07m 13s
  • 400 meters
  • 01m 48s / 100 meters
Comments:

My swimming speed has decreased over the last 6 months and I have no idea why. I have been running more and lack of pool time showed. I think I'll be okay longer distances but I was 19secs slower than 12 months ago.
Transition 1
  • 00m 40s
Comments:

Slow transition as I positioned my bike further from the bike exit than in previous years. The idea was I wouldn't have to run as far withe the bike in T2. However this backfired see T2.
Bike
  • 35m 39s
  • 11.9 miles
  • 20.03 mile/hr
Comments:

Took brain out and hammered it. Overall pleased as almost half of course (the climbs in the middle) were into a strong headwind.
What would you do differently?:

Dismount smoother.
Transition 2
  • 00m 49s
Comments:

Entered T2 well. Struggled to rack bike as someone next to me had dropped their bike across my kit bag. I then ran out of transition with my bike helmet on. No idea why and I've never done this before. Marshalls called out to me and I then ran back to put it on my bike. I had thought of throwing it in a bush nut ws later told that this would have earned me a penalty. Lost at least 20secs.
What would you do differently?:

Think.
Run
  • 15m 31s
  • 2.03 miles
  • 07m 38s  min/mile
Comments:

The run at this tri is always bloody hard. Although short it is flat out pace and very very hilly. The hill at the turn in particular is very steep for 0.3 mile. My legs were cooked after the bike and first mile was "slow" 7:45. Second was much quicker but damage was done.
What would you do differently?:

no idea

Warm down:

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Swim was poor. T2 was awful.

Event comments:

Good race. 5th time out and it is an excellent race to start the season. I was 4 secs slower than 12 months ago. All in all I'm happy as I lost 19 secs in the swim and my run and transitions were slower. Bike was a big improvement in worse conditions.
