Subject: Wet Suit during Bicycle
I'm going to do an early triathon which the forcasted temperature is 40f and rain.  I am thinking about wearing my wet suit during the bicycle.  Has anyone every tried.  I have not and the race is tommorrow.  I rode today and about froze.

Just wear what you normally would. Worse case put on gloves, but you won't really feel the cold when you're racing.  Or you will, but won't care, because you're racing.  It was high 30s and windy (but sunny) for the race in my profile pic.  I did take the time to put on the long sleeve shirt and gloves but that was it.

I couldn't even imagine trying to pedal with a wetsuit on, it's a bad idea

There's a piece of lore from the first or second Cal Poly Lake Lopez tri that a guy cycled in a wetsuit, and did well. There was a fluke march snow, and evidently people were pulled off the bike with hypothermia.

40's cold, but freezing is really cold. At 40 with race power, you can come up with cycling gear to keep warm. For sure, I'd go with neoprene shoe covers and heavy gloves.

Why not wear everything for every discipline? This guy at my first Oly did that:

Apparently he got a bit hot during the run as he stopped and had some buddies pouring water down the wetsuit. I presume it was done as part of a dare or he lost a bet or something. His bike time was reasonably good though

oops, I got distracted after posting so didn't realise I'd posted the swim pics twice and didn't have the bike in there, now it's too late to edit. I wont fill this thread up with more massive pics but the bike one is here:

I think that guy lost a bet considering he wore his wetsuit, running shoes, helmet all for s/b/r.
