I didn’t complain the entire month of April even though it was one of the coldest, windiest and rain filled spring I can remember. But it’s mid may here in Michigan. That’s right, yesterday was 5/15/11. It was 42 out, 18 MPH wind with gusts up to 30 and guess what else? It was raining. I don’t know how much more of this I can take. Forecast is 50’s all week with guess what…………rain.

I hear ya.  I had to turn the heat back on this morning and I'm a penny pincher so it took a REALLY cold house to get me to do that.  My group ride was cancelled on Saturday and I look forward to lots of quality time with Coach Troy this week.

Where on earth is spring?

Yeah, I can relate. Same here in Texas. I should be soaked in sweat on my rides by now but Sunday morning I was freezing and parts were numb from the cold!

I'm ready for some hot dry weather for a while.

Yep, it was 40, windy, and pouring rain here yesterday (and again today).  I actually had to do my long run on the dreadmill because two hours out in that kind of weather just sounded like a recipe for getting sick.

Believe it or not though I saw half a dozen cyclists out there on the IMLP course.  Ouch.  (At least I got my long bike in on Saturday morning before the rain arrived.)

I could always be worse.  It could be snowing.  And in the Great Lakes region, that is ALWAYS a possibility.

Sorry about your weather, Bradword.

Oh, we used to dream of cold rain in May! Would ha' been like summer to us. We used to have naught but hail and ice every day in May.  We got woke up every morning by having a load of rotting fish dumped all over us! Cold rain? Hu.

I live in Eastern Canada (the Maritimes) and it's been cold and raining all of April and May. The farmers are in trouble as their fields are all flooded. Even the ducks are saying enough is enough! My daughter's theory is that we're having stereotypical weather - winter was a ton of snow, spring is a ton of rain, so summer will be a ton of sun! I sure hope she's right!

Sun came out for a couple hours yesterday. Here's my Facebook status after my ride:

Biked out (north) 7.5 miles in 41 minutes. Total distance 15 miles, total ride time 62 minutes. You do the math. Bonus points for wind speed and direction.

I have no problem complaining about it either...it's been sucky as hell for way too long.  But I still managed a 30 mile bike ride on Sat in the pouring rain, and did a 12k run yesterday in same conditions.  About ready to pack up and move to NV.

I looked that the long term forecast yesterday, and then put the trainer tire back on my powertap wheel. I won't be seeing the sun for a good ten days! I can deal with the running outside, even in chilly rain, but not biking.

I could go run on the treadmill at the gym, but I'd rather be outside in crappy weather.

Wow, I just looked at historical data for my area for the last 5 years.  I knew it was bad this year, but not that bad.

From Apr 1 to May 15:

2007 - 3.1" rain
2008 - 3.1" rain
2009 - 3.0" rain
2010 - 4.2" rain
2011 - 6.1" rain

So I'm not crazy after all.Yell

From saturday afternoon to Sunday morning we had more than 2 inches of rain. Basically the rainfall totals for all of may in about 16 hours. Add to that having had the coldest April on the books and one of the wettest aprils with May looking just as bad and life stinks here - and I live in the Pacific Northwest and am used to it. I swear it has been so long without sun here that we had a break in the clouds last week at work and my manager told us to go outside for a Vitamin D break

It's been awful up here in Washington as well.

I've been seriously considering moving south...but if it is like this in other places, then it may be something that we just have to live with.

Complain all you want.  I live in Cleveland, so I feel you.  I ran a HM yesterday in that weather - 58, windy, drizzling.

It was good mental conditioning in CO this weekend. I froze my a$$ off riding Saturday and running Sunday.  It was nice because I didn't even think about the workout...just how I wanted to be inside...haha.  Yah...I want summer.

Yup, it's cold.  It's rainy.  It's been like this for 10 months now.  I'm still not complaining.  I'll take this over 100+ heat and humidity ANY day.

Besides, the sun warmed my back for a whole 10 minutes on my run yesterday - I think I soaked in more Vit D in my calves during those 10 minutes than I've had all winter.  Bonus!
