Overcast
Total Time = 2h 23m 18s
Overall Rank = 72/366
Age Group = 25-29
Age Group Rank = 14/46
Pre-race routine:

eat breakfast and watch sports center
Event warmup:

are we supposed to warm up?? we were not allowed into the water and i don't ride or run before a tri. so i stretched.
Swim
  • 23m 54s
  • 1640 yards
  • 01m 28s / 100 yards
Comments:

I didn't swim as hard as i thought i was at the time. need to work on a faster arm turnover.
What would you do differently?:

increase my output. i was cruising and not racing
Transition 1
  • 02m 9s
Comments:

maybe next time i'll try to put my helmet and glasses on while taking the suit off. just didn't even think of it at the time.
Bike
  • 1h 09m 11s
  • 24.85 miles
  • 21.55 mile/hr
Comments:

given the course i'd say i've made a lot of improvement on the bike. i rode it 1 min slower than my fastest from last season. last season was on a mostly flat course.
What would you do differently?:

nothing. i did all i could do and even though the split doesn't look great the ride was awesome.
Transition 2
  • 00m 55s
Comments:

had a good transition. not to hard to put a bike up and put shoes on. i stuck my belt in my mouth and started my watch as i hit the mat. then put my watch in my mouth and put my race belt on, then put my watch on.
What would you do differently?:

wipe the pebbles off the bottom of my feet.
Run
  • 46m 12s
  • 6.21 miles
  • 07m 26s  min/mile
Comments:

the run was tough. i was out of breath getting on to the bike and then was out of breath getting off the bike. i had to battle a side stitch so i walked twice in the first two miles to slow my breathing and heart rate. seems that at mile 2 my legs kicked in and i was good to go. i have a few stretches in the sub 7 range and ran the back 4 miles at 7:15 avg. with the walking it came out to just sub 7:30 which i'm happy with after that bike course.
What would you do differently?:

i've got to learn to run the first quarter mile or so SLOW to avoid the spiking heart rate and side stitches. no matter who is passing me. had i done that i believe i could have run some of the guys in front of me down because they were fading and coming back to me but i ran out of course to catch them.
Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster:
