Swim
Comments: This was definitely my worst leg of the three. My swim training has been going pretty well lately, but I think I lulled myself into a pace that was a little too easy. I think I could have been about 30 sedonds faster with a bit more effort. What would you do differently?: Push harder. Transition 1
Comments: Good transition considering the long run from the swim to T1. What would you do differently?: Nothing. Bike
Comments: This was one of the best bike legs I've had in the last few years. I've been doing a lot of my training indoors lately due to time constraints, but it didn't seem to hurt me. Pushed hard the entire time, only got passed by a couple of guys, but managed to keep them in sight until we got to T2. What would you do differently?: Nothing, felt great. Transition 2
Run
Comments: Pretty good run for me, but I think I still have some room to improve here. I did catch and pass two guys in my age group and another guy from my wave and managed to hold them off until the end. Definitely the hardest I've run in the last mile in a while. I crossed the line knowing I had gone as hard as I could on the bike and run, which was a really good feeling. What would you do differently?: Nothing Post race
Warm down: Overall a great race for me and probably my best result since 2008 when I was feeling really fit. My goal was to finish in the top 10, which I missed by 19 seconds, but considering the strength of the field 14th isn't too bad. I was also happy to be the first finisher from my wave. I came away from this race inspired to really hit it hard over the next 4 months and see what I can do. Last updated: 2011-05-16 12:00 AM

This is my first race report in about 3 years. I've done some races in that time, but haven't really had the motivation to write one. I feel like I'm getting my enthusiasm back after a couple of down years.
I arrived at the race site at about 6:30 in the morning. I checked in, got my chip, and got body marked in record time. Plenty of time left to set up and warm up.
My son and I were having a boys weekend visiting his grandparents who lived nearby. They were nice enough to watch him while I raced.
I actually had plent of time to ride for about 10 minutes, run about a mile, and swim just a little.
