Pre-race routine:

Woke up, loaded up, ate, drank, long haul drive there
Swim
  • 19m 21s
  • 880 yards
  • 02m 12s / 100 yards
Comments:

Goal was to easy swim with the wetsuit since it has been hurting my back to swim with it. Well the faster guys got out and I didnt hang and I was stuck in the middle with no draft. Well it was slow but I didnt think I would be that slow. Passed a few heading in. Back started to hurt a little about 100 yards left but made it in ok.
What would you do differently?:

Purchase new L3/L4 disk at the Human parts store.
Transition 1
  • 02m 53s
Comments:

Long dist up hill to bikes. I walked it up. Made sure everything was ok. Hopped on the bike and took off. Trouble getting shoes on this time.
Bike
  • 50m 29s
  • 16.1 miles
  • 19.14 mile/hr
Comments:

Took it easy on the way out. Too easy I guess. The first mile or so was more uphill than I realized so I thought I was doing bad and eased it back a little. I really wasnt pushing the rest of the way out and felt pretty good. Back was real good as I picked it up. Passed alot of people and only 1 person passed me but I keep him in sight. New fit feels pretty good. I hate to say but I bet there was a 5 mph diff between out and back.
What would you do differently?:

Slight more effort on the way out.
Transition 2
  • 00m 58s
Comments:

I thought this went fine. I had a bad rack spot could have went alittle faster.
Run
  • 27m 45s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 08m 55s  min/mile
Comments:

My best run ever. First race below a 30 min and I think I could have paced better. Need to listen to my body a little better and not my garmin. Seeing the low 9 pace I worried about being able to hold it and I think I could have pushed it better.
Post race
Warm down:

Food, Beer (BTW as the park ranger said No Beer in the Park) Did EvD hand it to me this time also???

Event comments:

Race was great. I like this race and I will most likely do it again even though I HATE the roads.
This is actually a C race for me and I was pretty happy with the results.

Great race. I wouldn't sweat the swim time; times are generally high for everybody.

You really smoked the course and picked up some significant time since last year!

Nice job on the race.  Although weird that the wetsuit is causing you back pain.
