Hello. It's May 21st here.

OMG my head is swirling ... everything seems unreal ... it's as if I'm on a different planet ... there are strange people walking around ...

oh yeah, that's always how it is at my parents' house in Jakarta. carry on with the debauchery ...

Check back in with us at 6 pm, 'cause that's when the REAL fun is supposed to begin.... http://www.religiondispatches.org/dispatches/laurilebo/4602/may_21_... I wonder if the Lord can gather up all the souls in one time zone in an hour before the destruction/rapture moves on to the next time zone?

...

ETA: Nobody knows when this day will occur.  We are not supposed to know. Because we don't know, we are to always keep our eyes on God and be prepared for when it does occur.

I was just saying to some people today that the best way to keep the rapture at bay is to know when it is. Since no one is supposed to know, except for God, then if I know that it is tomorrow, it cannot be tomorrow. See, it's like one of those infinite logic loops they use on sci-fi shows to trap the evil robot computer!

Or that philosophical conundrum ... what's it called ... the one where a judge sentences a prisoner to be executed but he won't know on which day ... but by not knowing, logically, he cannot be executed ... what is it ...

Jesus is apparently driving a time-zone party bus.  If things go bad in Triaya's neck of the woods, you have my official counsel to live it up for a 5:59 "repent and believe" in your neck of woods.  If not, my advice - spread the repentance and belief over your lifetime.

23 years ago, when the world was ending on another occasion, I helped my buddy buy a motorcycle, a great Honda twin street bike, from some guy that was preparing for the imminent events.  My friend didn't know anything about motorcycles, so he asked me to come along.  We talked to the seller for a while, and he suddenly decided to dropped his price way down to something like $500.  At that point, my friend pulled me aside and told me that he just wanted to get the bike and go since, at that price, he could part it out and make money if it was a dud.  I told him to just hang on for a while let us all keep talking.  After another ten or fifteen minutes of hearing him out, the guy selling the motorcycle looks at us and says "I like you guys so much I'm going to just give you this motorcycle."  My friend wouldn't have it, so they worked out a deal where he bought the thing for $1.  He couldn't ride, so I rode it home for him (that's why he had me along).  We had a lot of laughs over the $1 motorcycle.  After we got back to my place, I looked at him and asked if he'd seen anything else in the house that he wanted to buy.

Or that philosophical conundrum ... what's it called ... the one where a judge sentences a prisoner to be executed but he won't know on which day ... but by not knowing, logically, he cannot be executed ... what is it ...

I think it was that the judge said he'd be executed in the next ten days, but it would be a surprise.  The prisoner determined it wouldn't be on the tenth day, because if the ninth day passed, he'd know it would be on the tenth and wouldn't be surprised.  So if it couldn't be the tenth, then the ninth was the last possible day he'd be executed.  Logically, if he made it to the eighth day, it would have to be the ninth, and he wouldn't be surprised, so he ruled out the ninth.  He went on with his deducing, ruling out every day, all the way down to tomorrow.  He then realizes if it can't be tomorrow, it has to be today.  However, now he knows he'll be executed today, thus he won't be surprised, and so he rules out today as well.  His conclusion is that he won't be executed.

They can now execute him on any day and he'll be surprised.

bradword - 2011-05-19 6:18 PM I don't get it. I'm Christian, and the word Rapture isn't even in the Bible. Where do these guys get this stuff from?

rap·ture
–noun
1.
ecstatic joy or delight; joyful ecstasy.
2.
Often, raptures. an utterance or expression of ecstatic delight.
3.
the carrying of a person to another place or sphere of existence.

4.  Bizzare, funky Blondie song.

On a serious note: I find it ironic that being left behind after the "rapture" is the only possible way that I could or would ever believe in a diety.  Of course, by then it would be too late...

Depends on your interpretation of how it is all supposed to go down.

Right. My understanding is that if you repent during the Tribulation, you're still saved. Not a fun time, I guess, but still saved.

My Dad just told he'll be pissed if it does happen tomorrow.

He just bought his first expensive luxury car yesterday.

DerekL - 2011-05-19 4:20 PM I'll be at IM TX at the finisher's chute.  I just want to see the last guy/girl trying to finish get picked up and carried off instead.

"But... no... I trained for 10 months for this!!"

I have to wonder what is going on in people's lives that they need this to be real.
