Just curious. New to Triathlons, but I come from Mt. Biking. The Xterra tris look interesting... might sign up next year.... although the one in July looks tempting.

Doing my first one in July at Beaver Creek Xterra.  Just the sport distance.

My first couple of tri's were off road as i came from MTBing as well.  Easy transition as I didn't have to get a road bike.  Now that I think about it, the first couple of multi sport events were off road as I did a couple of off road duathlons in mid 90s, great introductions to the multi sport world.  Looks like they are still holding the duathlon's up at YMCA of the Rockies:

Usually the XTERRA's are smaller, on fairly non technical courses and have a very cool vibe about them compared to, say, the Boulder Tri series.

Ya, I was wondering how much single track there was to it. Seems like there woul dbe a lot of log jams. Pretty hard to pass on single track.

I am fairly new to Xterra's--only done 2 with another coming up next weekend. I will be racing Beaver Creek also. From what I hear it is a lot of climbing on the bike and run. And there is some single track but I'm not sure how much. My team http://www.epcmultisport.com/is primarily Xterra athletes in the Denver area. We will likely be going up to do a preride of the course sometime before the race (either late June or early July). Check out the team if you're interested in meeting some other Xterra athletes and doing some swim, bike, and run workouts with us.
