Pre-race routine:

Got up and drove over to race site from my dad's house in Bailey. Ate a power bar and drank water and gatorade.
Event warmup:

Got all my stuff. Ran to the end of the road and back. Rode bike about a mile to set and check gears. Swam about 100 yards out and back.
Swim
  • 18m 36s
  • 1094 yards
  • 01m 42s / 100 yards
Comments:

Everything went perfectly for me in this swim. Swimming is my strong suit, but this was unbelievable for me! Great water, no crowding.
What would you do differently?:

Hope I can have a repeat performance sometime!
Transition 1
  • 02m 5s
Comments:

Great transition for me. I don't do bike shoes, so I gotta put on shoes. This time, I was able to run out of the water and wasn't so beaten down I had to walk.
Bike
  • 1h 05m 20s
  • 17 miles
  • 15.61 mile/hr
Comments:

I need to get over my fear of falling and get some bike shoes and pedals. I'm afraid of being clipped in, but I need to get over it. My legs were exhausted at the end of the ride.
Transition 2
  • 00m 34s
Comments:

This is where not having bike shoes helps!
Run
  • 33m 20s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 10m 43s  min/mile
Comments:

I cannot figure out how to drink water and run without coughing. It was hot and I really needed water!
What would you do differently?:

Drink!
Post race
Warm down:

Well, I ran over the the grass and puked and stumbled around. I really pushed myself, but it was worth it! LOL I finally drank sprite and ate a hotdog and recovered. I need to learn to drink and run!

Event comments:

Thanks for everyone who helped out! I enjoyed the food and the atmosphere. I also like the camo socks! I'll sport them at my next race. Very organized and well-run. I think more people should sign up, they're missing out!

Great race! Sorry I missed meeting you. My goal is always to try to give it all I have; puking says you did it! And you were right, the resurfacing made it rough, but it was the dangerous fine, loose gravel I was worried about.

I walk to drink. I slow to a walk to take the cup, drink what I want still walking, then dump the rest on my head and get back to running.

What number were you? I think you passed me on the bike. I was #42, obvious Athena (LOL)
