Human Race
60F / 16C
Sunny
Total Time = 2h 12m 1s
Overall Rank = 136/
Age Group = 35-39
Age Group Rank = 30/40
Pre-race routine:

Late for the race so we had to ride our bikes quickly to the event after a series of unfortunate events involving a boat that couldn't dock and a train gate that wouldn't open. Sigh.
Event warmup:

See above.
Swim
  • 22m 26s
  • 1000 meters
  • 02m 14s / 100 meters
Comments:

Water was initially cold but after a nice wee in the wetsuit I was toasty! Just went out and tried to avoid contact as much as possible until I got kicked in the head and then it was on. Nothing like a heel to the forehead to welcome you to another tri season.

Water was very choppy as the wind was gusting into at least the 40s and kicking up spray and waves and such. I think i swallowed half the lake.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing. Good times.
Transition 1
  • 02m 40s
Comments:

I was too worried about my stuff and where to put it than transitioning onto the bike. First race of the year so I'll just chalk it up to being out of practice.
Bike
  • 1h 09m 49s
  • 18.64 miles
  • 16.02 mile/hr
Comments:

Oh-muh-garsh the wind was INSANE! At one point a guy rode by me and said `I'm doing nine. NINE!' And he was passing me. WTF??? So, yeah, not pleasant at ALL. The way back was fun but, like me, it only lasted a couple minutes. I guess two minutes in heaven is better than one minute in heaven.
What would you do differently?:

Train more and ask for less wind.
Transition 2
  • 01m 39s
Comments:

Not a bad tranny. I just threw on the ol' shoes and took off.
Run
  • 35m 27s
  • 4.66 miles
  • 07m 37s  min/mile
Comments:

Not a bad run but again that wind going out really slowed me down. I could've gone faster but runing into the gusts just took it out of me so I was not at peak performance on the way back. But it was like that for everybody. I placed fairly high on the run, though the results dont break that down.
What would you do differently?:

Run faster?
Post race
Warm down:

Crossed the finish line and saw Monica and then got my stuff. We rode back to the train station and stopped for a burger and fries.

Unsure why, but the British always fu** up hamburgers. How do you fu** up a hamburger!? Anyway, after 45 minutes of waiting we got our food to go. It took that long to make dry, tasteless hamburgers? Really? More on.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Lack of training.
