Subject: New Cleats and inside knee pain
I had to put new cleats on my bike shoes last week and I am experiencing inner knee pain.  I am not sure if its from cycling hard  (pushed big gears) last week or because of the position of my new cleats.  Any suggestions on positioning the bike cleats to see if this is the cause?  I feel the pain when I push down hard my stroke.  It feels more like muscle pain but not sure.

When was the last time you changed your running shoes?
How many miles were on them?

Also

Are you POSITIVE your cleats are in the same position as the last set?

Did you mark the soles of your shoes and put the new cleat back in the same place?

I mark the soles of my shoes with permanent marker tracing the cleat before I take old cleat off.

I felt the pain creap up from bike long and hard this week (peak week for HIM).  I didn't mark cleats (rookie mistake I guess).

maybe the cleat is too far back.

if you can get the old cleats (out of the trash) and see if you can find the marks where they were on the sole, then perhaps you can reposition the new ones.

Same issue here...replaced cleats and was very careful in putting marks on the sole of the shoes before removing the old ones. New cleats are in the exact same spot...I did a 70Km ride on Saturday and have shooting pains up my left leg....bit concerned as I have a HIM in two weeks!
