What?  You tired of rain or something?

I can't find anything online that tells me whether the course has changed since their prediction that it will make a second land-fall in the pan-handle of FL.  But it sure as hell looks like it's headed toward NO.  But that could just be my worried-daughter syndrome.

High pressure over Louisiana is supposed to steer it to the northeast and the Florida panhandle. Not so good if you have tri in, say, Panama City.

Not so much.  We're already making plans.  We've also made the sad realization that our bikes are probably one of the most expensive things we own!  They are most certainly coming with us!

Katrina just left us thank god. It was pretty scary out there. We lost power for a day, but most of the damage was done south of us, in Miami-Dade county, like Homestead. We stayed in a hotel Thursday night b/c it was too hot without a/c. But, we got hit when it was a Cat 1. Now, it's already up to a Cat. 3. I HATE hurricane season!!!

Yeah,

We're eyeballing it here in Gulfport too. I'm a block off the beach, and have about 20' of elevation. We're thinking that we'll pull back off the beach if it's a strong cat 3 or worse. The storm surge could be 12 to 15 feet. Woo Hoo!

All y'all Gulf Coasters will be in my thoughts today.  Maybe it will lose power as it comes in.  Sigh.

I worry about my parents, although they're all the way up in Slidell.  I hope they decide to head up to BR and hang with my aunt.  At least it's a bit safer there.

Cavu9 - 2005-08-27 7:58 AM Good call!  My bike will not be left behind!!!

TheTrek has to be left behind. I am most distraught over this. It will not fit with all the people plus the HUGE cat carrier.

(times like this that makes me wish I had bought the car rack)

all well such is life, TheTrek will be in my hopes.

Got a good ride in this afternoon, the levy was extra windy but only saw 3 other bikes. I hope the levy survives. They had ships anchored sideways up and down the river, looked pretty wild. We are gonna wait till tomorrow to evacuate. Debating between going east to avoid traffic or staying here or TBD.

barry, my folks are in the next town over from ya. Yep, they're probably going up to Jackson to stay with my sister. Having lived there for like, since great great grandma, they are tired of sitting out hurricanes. We've never really evacuated, only gone "across the bay to grandpa's house". For Camille, they were only about four miles inland and got swamped! I've been through so many I can't remember them all.

My folks area undecided about if and where to go.  When I talked with my mom earlier she said that "they" were predicting that once it makes landfall, it will veer back east, so that folks in Baton Rouge and east may get the brunt of the storm.  Well, that knocks out about half the family that they can stay with right there.  We have folks in Monroe, but my parents aren't really eager to head up there if they don't have to.  And then there are the 6 (yes, SIX) cats to think about.

My aunt in GA said they should come that way, but by tomorrow, when the Highway Patrol turn on the contra-flow, I doubt they'll be able to drive across MS.

*sigh*  When my Granny was alive, we would always just head up to Columbia and stay with her.

Its 7:30 am and we are in fairhope, AL watching the storm. Its very rainy and winds around 50 mph here. Reports out of New Orleans are that the levy's are holding. Winds are rough, but so far the water is not swamping the city. Keep fingers crossed.

I've spoken with my family, they are just dealing with wind and rain of course, no flooding yet. One aunt lives on the levee, on River Road, and we haven't heard from her, but the levees are ok, so were assuming she is too (she was riding it out).

I was a nervous wreck last night! N.O. looks like it lucked out.
