Comments:

Rank of 65 out of 115 is out of all ages, men & women, wetsuit only. Bc of the warm air & water temps, most folks clearly opted out of the wetsuit, but I wore it bc I hate the damn thing and wanted more practice in it.

This is a great race, though, bc the water's clean, it's low key, and the course is good navigation practice. It was more physical than last year's race - more like a tri lol - and I sprained my middle finger nicely by jamming it into some guy's skull as it cut me off.

Even though it was cool to place, I'm disappointed in my time - 2 minutes slower than my .9 swim in last weekend's oly race, and a minute slower than my time in this race last year - but I also swam little to nothing October-February/March, and even after that my mileage seems much lower than last year. So, maybe I shouldn't complain, and if nothing else it's a good incentive to train more in the pool next winter - my 1-2/week swims (currently) aren't going to do enough for me if I actually want to get faster.
What would you do differently?:

Train more over the winter. Still need to sight better. And, unless I can get appreciably faster, need to submit a slower pre-race 1650 time - wave placement is determined by estimated 1650 time, and I think I'd be better off in a later heat in which I'm strong enough to get ahead at the start, and, thus, not lose time getting run over at the start. Plus, I'm still feeling pretty perky - think I could've gone harder throughout the race; I also need to work on pacing myself so that I can maintain a strong, but faster pace throughout.
Post race
Warm down:

strip off the neoprene prison. share oreos with family. diet coke to settle my stomach.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

skill. backing off the body contact.
