Didn't see anyone else start it so I will.

Less than a month away.  Haven't done PP in 2 years since they changed the date.  Looking forward to getting back there.  I also see they changed the bike course back to the old way, which will be new for me.

Everyone ready?

CROWNY!!! You're back man! I am in for this! Should we attempt to do a dinner the night before or just say we'll see each other race day?  I am so glad you are doing this!

Hiya lady.  No idea.  Haven't even thought that far ahead yet.  Let's keep in touch for this and I'll know more later.

How's training treating you?  You ready for this one?

This is going to be my first Oly distance.  Been training hard with the LITH tri coming up next weekend.  My goal is to be around 3:15, maybe closer to 3:00 if I feel good and conditions are favorable.

You picked a good one for your first.  They always put on a good race.  And this one is also pretty flat.  The run is uber flat.

Good luck!

First weekend of Lake Andrea open swim.  I got in a little dress rehersal so to speak.  Water is already great.  I wore my suit to get used to it, but don't think it was nessessary.  The bike portion west of the I was nice.  Weather permitting should be another great year for the PPT.

Considering racing PPP again as a pre-curser to my A-race, always a great race to stoke the ego with a fast time! (Hopefully)

However, I was on the website today and couldn't find the direct answer to my question, so I thought someone here might remember.

Is Saturday Bike Check-in still Mandatory for this race?

Last year it was reccomended but not manditory.  I rode my bike to the race from a distant parking lot to avoid traffic on the way out.

Yeah, I don't think it is 100% mandatory, but I think they recommend it strongly.  But like he said above, you will have to ride it there form the parking lot.  You can't bring it on the shuttle.  Oh, and make certain you wear your helmet when doing so.  USAT Officials can DQ you if you don't.

Anyone else doing the group Open Water Swims at Lake Andrea tomorrow and next week?  Water temps are supposed to be in the low 60s.

ETA:  I'll be racking my bike the day before the race also.  Make sure to bring a pump on race day!

What do you do with what?  your bike, or the pump?

Well I hope I know what to do with the bike or I'm in trouble.Laughing I meant the pump. If you bring a pump the day of the race and you aren't parked close what do you do with it? this is my first tri....if work doesn't kill me this week.

Good luck to all the PP racers this weekend.  After much internal and external debate and attempted training plan re-arraigning, I have decided that it would be best to use this weekend for another long weekend of training for Racine.

Be Fast .....  Be Safe ..... Have Fun!

No way I can make it there Saturday so I'll be parking and riding in Sunday morning.  I think logistically they want as many people racking the day before, but I am not driving 1 1/2 hours each way both Saturday and Sunday.  Staying overnight is not an option.

If they do it like they have years in the past, there will be multiple shuttles running the morning of the race from the parking lot to the race site.  It is about 1 mile between the two sites.  Most people bring their triathlon bag with them. There is plenty of room on the shuttles.  There will be a lot of people also bringing bike pumps so dont worry about asking to use one if you dont bring yours.  There will also be at least one bike shop on site for assistance with your bike if needed.   Triathletes tend to be a generous bunch of folks especially on race morning and especially if you let people know its your first race.  Good luck, have fun and be safe.  It'll be my first race back in over a year and I am anxious to get racing on Sunday!

Thanks. I appreciate the information. The only pump I have is a standard full size pump. How much PSI do you think would leak out if racked overnight? I am going up on Saturday and staying at the Raddison. I will be walking in Sunday morning as I don't believe they have shuttles from that direction. Anyone know how many competitors there are for both races?

Just adding some to this.

The Radisson isn't that far.  Pretty darn close (mile or 2?).  I'm staying as well.  Probably walk there as well.  We will see.

The other thing, this looks like it is going to be a pretty cool morning.  55 as the low?  Get ready to be cool folks. Arm warmers again for me.

ETA: it is about a 2 mile walk.  That's a long walk the morning of a race.  Just so you know.

X2 on what MarkK said.  He is a wily veteran.

I will see y'all up there.  I have not finalized my plans, but have stayed multiple times at the radisson and done the walk.  Its a good warmup

I did 1 mile in Lake Andrea last night before the storms rolled in.  The water temp is great!  No worries if you don't have a wetsuit. I'm sure the water will be warmer than the chilly morning air.
